Reducing retail crime in Northampton - and applying lessons county-wide

Northampton Retail Crime Initiative (NRCI) was set up in 2001 by the police to help drive down business-related crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the town. The successful NRCI ‘model’ is now being extended right across the county.

Since its creation, the not-for-profit company, controlled by its 150 or so retailer Members and its visionary, voluntary Board of Members lead by Chairman Mike Brennan, has been reducing low-level retail crime for its members and for the wider community.

During his time as a Police Officer, Steve Lang had been responsible for delivering much of the police's support for the NRCI. So when he retired in May 2015 he seemed the logical choice to be brought in to work alongside the NRCI’s Scheme Manager, Denise Ellis....
