Data Security
Littoralis™ uses its own proprietary secure RSA 1024-bit-based encrypted authentication handler at login. The system not only protects login procedures from technical interception but also sets session-cookies on members' browsers so that each time any page on the intranet is accessed the session cookie is interrogated and checked to be valid. As well as virtually guaranteeing secure log-in, the system controls access to cached webpages (saved on the member's own computer) requiring re-login. Each intranet page is served under HTTPS - Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure, or over SSL.
All our crime reduction systems are hosted on Littoralis'™ own dedicated servers, located in the UK; physical access is reserved for Littoralis™ staff only; the physical location of Littoralis™ servers is not released to partnerships. Littoralis™ servers are automatically backed up in their entirety each day to a Raid-equipped back-up server, located geographically distant from the main host servers; Littoralis™ servers are supported by full hardware and software technical and replacement support on a one-hour recovery basis.
Littoralis™ products employ system-generated passwords for all intranet members; passwords are periodically replaced to minimise any password abuse by members; IP addresses are logged to indicate possible password abuse; real-time access reports are available to administrators.
Because Littoralis™ products are readily accessible through the internet (subject to password control etc) there is no need to copy and store data on members' own computer equipment, or any need to copy data for physical removal to another computer. In this way security issues involved in transporting data - unencrypted or encrypted - are eliminated. And our unique authentication handler means that any data stored in the 'cache' of individual Members' computers or browsers cannot be accessed without re-logging into the Intranet.
