Crime Reduction Partnership Intelligence Exchange
Shoplifting and retail fraud is big business. Many perpetrators make a living from stealing from, or defrauding, retailers. Too often, although 'captured' on CCTV systems, they evade security staff and police. Too many CCTV images of persistent shop thieves and fraudsters go unidentified. A positive identification is an important first step towards bringing these people to court. CRPix allows anyone in retail crime reduction and prevention to share these images - and ultimately to identify them. CRPix is a free, not-for-profit service.
So Littoralis has developed the Crime Reduction Partnership Intelligence Exchange or 'CRPix'. The service is entirely free of charge and is open to anyone actively involved in retail creim prevention or reduction. CRPix 'Authors' can submit images of unidentified individuals to the system and, each week, these images are distributed to members of CRPix by email. If a member believes he or she can provide useful information about the unidentified individual - perhaps even a name - then this is entered through CRPix and transmitted immediately to the Author.
Anyone involved in retail crime reduction or prevention can become a Member of CRPix. Members receive a weekly eNewsletter displaying all images submitted by CRPix Authors (see below) in the previous seven days. They can also access the CRPix secure intranet which displays all images submitted by Authors in the last three months, and can submit information about any individuals who they recognise. If you wish to become a Member, simply visit the CRPix login page at www.littoralis.info/crpix and complete the 'Not registered yet?' section on the right.
Authors can submit CCTV images of unidentified individuals to CRPix. They must be users of Littoralis' BCRP Intranet secure data-sharing system and members of the Association of Business Crime Reduction Partnerships. Alternatively you can be nominated by an existing CRPix Author. If you are an existing BCRP Intranet user and member of ABCP, click here to complete a short form and we'll set you up as an Author. If you wish to be nominated by your local CRPix Author but you don't know how to contact him or her, click here and we'll send you the contact details of your nearest CRPix Author.
You can read about CRPix in more detail - and register as a member or an 'Author' through the CRPix public website at www.crpix.org.uk or visit the intranet itself at www.littoralis.info/crpix
